Laser Tattoo Removal in Brentwood, TN

Laser tattoo removal is a rapidly growing market. Approximately 25% of people in the United States have a tattoo, and approximately 50% will eventually want tattoo removal. The rapid growth of laser tattoo removal technology is good news for anyone who has an unwanted tattoo. New laser tattoo removal techniques can eliminate tattoos with minimal side effects. Cool Springs MD offers laser tattoo removal to the residents of Brentwood, Nashville and surrounding communities in Tennessee.

How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?

Lasers are used to remove tattoos by breaking up the pigment colors of the tattoo with a high-intensity light beam. The easiest tattoos to remove are ones with black ink because black tattoo pigment absorbs all laser wavelengths. Laser treatment works on other colors with lasers that are based on pigment color.

Who Can Benefit From Laser Tattoo Removal?

Every tattoo is unique. Therefore, every removal technique must be tailored specifically to each individual case. In the past, there has been a variety of different methods to remove tattoos. Unfortunately, many of these methods left scars that were even worse to look at than the tattoo itself.

Fortunately, patients who have already attempted to have their tattoos removed without the desired results may still be candidates for laser therapy. As long as prior treatments did not result in excessive scarring, tattoos that were not effectively removed by prior treatments or through home remedies can still respond well to laser therapy.

Laser Tattoo Removal Using the Q-Plus C Quanta®

Cool Spring MD offers tattoo removal using the Q-Plus C Quanta®. Q-Plus C Quanta is widely considered to be the “gold standard” in laser tattoo removal. The laser system is the ONLY true three wavelength Q-switched system and is the highest performance Q-switched laser on the market today. Q-Plus C Quanta uses light that’s delivered in specific wavelengths in ultra-short, very high peak energy pulses. The pulses are then absorbed by the pigment in the tattoo, resulting in an acoustic shockwave. The shockwave causes the pigment particles to shatter, breaking them up into fragments that are small enough to be removed by the body. The body will eliminate these tiny particles itself.

Q-Plus C Quanta’s use of mixed wavelengths works great for the treatment of multi-colored tattoos. The three wavelengths that are used are Nd:YAG 1064nm (used for dark blue and black ink), 532nm (used for red, orange, yellow, and purple ink), and ruby 694nm (used for blue, sky blue, black, green, and violet ink). These wavelengths are high-powered and produce remarkable results. With the addition of the ruby 694nm laser, the Q-Plus C Quanta can remove the blue and green ink that’s typically resistant to other Nd: YAG lasers.

What Can You Expect From The Q-Plus C Laser®?

When undergoing laser tattoo removal, the number of treatments needed to remove the tattoo will depend on its depth, color, and ink composition. Generally, black, red, dark blue, and dark orange respond to treatments quicker than other colors. Yellow, purple, green, white, light blue, and light orange tend to respond a bit slower and may need more treatments. Treatments are recommended every four to eight weeks.

How Does The Laser Work?

The Q-Plus C removes a tattoo using high-intensity light pulses. They pulse at nanoseconds and cause the tattoo ink to burst into tiny fragments that are then harmlessly eliminated by the body. Since the tattoo ink absorbs the light selectively, the surrounding skin tissue doesn’t get damaged.

The process of having a tattoo removed generally requires a series of treatments every four to six weeks. It could take up to 10 treatment sessions to remove some tattoos. There are several variables in the length and success of laser tattoo removal, including the depth, color, and amount of ink, as well as the location of the tattoo. The more amateur “street tattoos” and traumatic tattoos are typically removed with fewer treatments than professional tattoos. Dr. Lodge and his staff can give you an estimated treatment course after a complimentary tattoo consultation.

How Long Do The Treatments Take?

The length of each laser removal treatment depends on the size of the tattoo and the colors involved, but they typically only last a few minutes. We do require an initial consultation but will often begin treatment on the same day as the consultation to save you time.

Can The Laser Treatments Lighten An Existing Tattoo?

In some cases, people want to cover their existing tattoo with a new one. In order to reduce the chance of the old tattoo showing up through the new one, many tattoo artists will encourage customers to seek laser tattoo removal treatments in order lighten the existing tattoo before they cover it with the new one. The length of time it takes to lighten the existing tattoo depends on the colors in it. It typically takes a minimum of two to four treatments to lighten an existing tattoo. However, if there are certain colors in the existing tattoo that don’t fade as well as others, then it may require more than the minimum amount of treatments.
