PRP Rejuvenation in Brentwood, TN

Platelet rich plasma, or PRP rejuvenation restores the volume of your face and immediately improves the appearance of your skin. Cool Springs MD is excited to offer our patients in Brentwood, Nashville and nearby communities in Tennessee with an advanced cosmetic and reparative treatment that is safe and effective.

While expensive surgical treatments often require extensive recovery time, PRP rejuvenation is a simple and effective in-office procedure that combines traditional dermal fillers with a serum made from your own blood. By adding this personalized serum, the fillers used to alter the shape of your face are much more effective.

What is PRP?

This simple process begins by taking a small amount of blood from your arm, generally less than what is drawn for routine blood tests. The blood is then placed in a vial (the vial is attached to a centrifuge), and the centrifuge spins the vial at a high rate of speed to separate the plasma from the blood. Unlike the platelet levels in the blood that is running through you veins, this process will nearly quadruple the platelet concentration. Also referred to as “liquid gold”, this platelet-rich plasma can be applied topically or injected.

How Does It Work?

Years of research has shown that one of the best ways to alter the outer layer of skin is to “trick” the body into thinking that it is injured. The platelet-rich serum is activated with a simple solution of calcium chloride which forces the mixture to produce a mesh of fibrin. When applied directly to the skin or injected just under the skin, the body will flood the area with healing cells. These cells produce a natural form of collagen which excites the skin in a process known as fibroblast production.

PRP rejuvenation has been used for many years by professional athletes that are suffering from both chronic and acute injuries. Instead of applying it directly to the skin, the serum can be injected near joints, tendons, and other soft tissue to expedite the healing process. This treatment is common in a variety of sports including tennis, golf, running, and basketball.

The Key To Success -Tricking The Cells Into Thinking There Is An Injury

The primary goal of PRP rejuvenation is to improve the appearance of your skin. This includes blemishes such as wrinkles and lines that are often reduced due to a thicker dermis being created by the body. Patients may also notice a healthier and more even tone. One of the reasons that PRP rejuvenation is so successful is due to the fact that the serum is mixed with traditional fillers such as Juvederm®, Restylane® or Radiesse®. The combination amplifies the effects of these fillers and increases the longevity of the treatment.

PRP Rejuvenation / PRP Facial Options

Cool Springs MD offers a number of options to patients for improving the tone and overall appearance of their face with PRP rejuvenation. Each of these options come with their own advantages, and patients must carefully consider their own unique needs.

Option 1: PRP with Fillers

PRP with fillers is one of the most popular PRP rejuvenation treatments because the treatment improves the appearance of your skin in as little as a few minutes. Both the plasma and fillers are layered with one another to immediately smooth out and tighten the skin while the healing process beings. PRP with fillers results in an almost instantaneous changes as well as long-term improvements. Some of the most common fillers that are used include Radiesse, Perlane, Restylane, and Juvederm Ultra Plus. When these fillers are combined with PRP, the corrections may last for up to six months longer than fillers alone.

Option 2: PRP Injection Therapy Instead of Fillers

A patient that would like to avoid the use of artificial fillers can still benefit from PRP treatments. While the results may not be quite as good, the body will still produce natural “fillers” as the PRP takes effect. Some of the most common areas for PRP injections without fillers include:

  • Crow’s feet
  • Horizontal neck lines
  • Fine facial lines
  • Décolletage

Option 3: PRP Therapy Used as Laser Resurfacing Enhancement

Using fractional lasers is a great way to improve the appearance of one’s skin immediately, and adding PRP to this process will speed up the healing process and amplify the effects. Immediately following your CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing, PRP serum can be applied directly to the skin for long-term results.

Option 4: PRP Facial

A PRP facial begins with artificially “wounding” the skin with an automatic microneedle. The PRP serum is then applied to the skin, and the body will attempt to heal the area by flooding it with collagen and other natural fillers.
